June 16, 1960 - July 25, 2021
Kimberly Diane Lanata was born on June 16, 1960 to Al and Frankie Lanata in Biloxi, Mississippi. She entered her eternal home July 25, 2021 at the age of 61 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kim grew up in Oklahoma City with her big sister Jeanne and big brother Michael, where she graduated from Putnam City High School in 1978. She enjoyed art and created many beautiful paintings during highschool. She then attended college at Oklahoma State University where she studied accounting. Kim had 2 children, Russell Alan born on July 9, 1984 and Kristen Renee born on May 2, 1986. She was a devoted mom, helping with school work, attending every school or extracurricular function, and always agreeable to help with special projects - well into her children’s adulthoods. She was delighted when Kristen married Colin Webb in 2011, and when Russell married Tessia Kotarski in 2013. She was over the moon when Russell and Tessia welcomed Parker Alan Smith to the family on August 17, 2015, and later Chloe Louann Smith on May 21, 2018. She would mourn the loss of Kristen and Colin's first born, Taavi Josiah Webb with them in 2018, and later get to celebrate the welcoming of Samual Bill Webb on March 13, 2020. Kim was born to be a Nonna, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She lived to love on them and spoil them, and the affection she had for them was mutual. Kim even loved to spoil her granddogs, Gus & Molly, because they were special family to her, too. Kim worked for Hertz Corporate for 41 years. She held different job titles throughout her career and enjoyed her work. The friends she made during her time at Hertz truly became her second family, she cherished her friendships and kept in touch even when life moved them in other directions. With these cherished friends she enjoyed trips to the beach, crab leg nights at the casino, lunch get togethers, and sweet conversations. She was deeply moved by the support and love she felt from friends new and old in her final days. Kim went to be with the Lord the evening of Sunday, July 25, 2021. We truly believe our Heavenly father orchestrated her final days and gave all of her out of state family as well as her work family extra time to be with her, love on her and pray with her. The day before she passed away, she was in good spirits, making jokes, and spoke of how loved and supported she felt. She was a special woman, a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mom, Nonna and friend, and her last days were a gift to those of us she leaves behind as she embarks on her next adventure to be with the Lord, her mother, and her grandbabies in Heaven. Kim is survived by her son, Russell Smith and wife Tessia Smith of Wylie, TX; daughter Kristen Webb and husband Colin Webb of Greenville, SC; Grandchildren Parker and Chloe Smith of Wylie, TX and Samuel Webb of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her father, Al Lanata of Edmond, OK; sister Jeanne Kopacka and husband Gary Kopacka of Alpharetta, GA; brother Michael Lanata of Las Vegas, NV; nieces and nephews Taylor Leigh and husband Brandon Leigh, Ryann Kopacka, and Ben Kopacka and wife Kylee Kopacka all of Alpharetta, GA, and her newest great nephew Garrett Leigh of Alpharetta, GA.
