Eva Elizabeth Painton passed away on May 5th , 2022 at the amazing age of 100. Eva was born on the family farm, South of Capron, OK, April 22, 1922, to Phillip W. Eggstein and Anna Eva Eggstein. Eva was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Francis Eggstein, and sister, Mary Gatz both of Alva, OK. She graduated from Capron High School in 1940. Soon after, she started working as a waitress at Clara’s café in Alva. It was there she met Dallas A. Painton when he was delivering Golden Crust Bread to the café. It was love at first sight! They were married in Alva, OK, on April 18, 1943. They were married for 43 years before his passing in 1987. Dallas and Eva had two sons, Ronald P. of Oklahoma City and Stephen W. of Edmond, OK. Eva worked in dietary at Share Memorial Hospital where her specialty was making cakes and pies. She retired from there in 1976. She and Dallas then moved to Tahlequah, OK to be near their grandsons. After Dallas passed, Eva moved to Oklahoma City. There she became very active with the First Christian Church where she was the purchaser for their food pantry. She spent many hours there handing out groceries to those who needed them. She also helped with and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a very special and compassionate lady. Eva enjoyed the holidays and being around family and friends. Eva was able to enjoy two birthday celebrations for her 100th birthday. She was counting down the days until she reached 100. The first celebration was at her assisted living facility. There she was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma. She was also treated to a family and friends celebration at her son, Stephen’s home, where she reminisced and told stories about her life. She was much loved and will be truly missed. Eva is survived by her two sons, Ronald Painton and Stephen Painton; daughters-in-law Tammy Painton and Sue Painton; grandsons Randy Painton and Cory Painton and his wife Kyle; granddaughter Marie and husband Ronnie Azad. The family would like to thank Valir Hospice and Legend at Jefferson’s Garden for the excellent care they each provided for Eva. Eva’s memorial service will be held as a graveside ceremony at the Orion, OK, Cemetery at a date to still be determined.
