Ella B. Hodges passed away January 3, 2020 in Edmond, OK. She was born August 31, 1927 in Inglenook, Alabama. Her parents were Thomas and Marjorie Brown. She was a graduate of City High School in Chattanooga, TN, and she also attended Edmondson Business School. She worked for Baptist Book Store in Chattanooga. Ella married Keith T. Houts on August 22, 1948 in Chattanooga. They moved to Dallas, Texas, and she was employed by Continental Insurance Co. She was a supervisor in the Premium Accounting Department for 20 years. The marriage ended after 26 years, and several years later, she met and married Bill Hodges of Clovis, NM. He was a farm and ranch manager, and they lived in a small town, Broadview, NM for most of their marriage. When he retired, they moved to Clovis, NM. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Marjorie Selman of Roebuck, SC and Annabell McBride of Aurora, CO, as well as her husband Bill Hodges. She is survived by her two daughters: Kati Houts (Melanie) of Edmond, OK and Janella Tears (Gary) of Edmond, OK. She has two granddaughters, Kasey Smith (Zack) of Edmond, OK and Mindy Pidek (Eric) of Edmond, OK. Ella has 7 great-grandsons: Max, Corbin, Clayton and Brigham Smith; Luke, Collin, and Tyler Pidek. Ella has 3 stepsons and 1 stepdaughter: Bill Hodges, Jr. (Nancy) of Ocala, FL, Tom Hodges (Rebecca) of Ocala, FL, Mark Hodges of Elephant Butte, NM and Bonnie Coppock of Elephant Butte, NM. She also has 4 step grandsons and 1 step granddaughter. Ella loved her family and enjoyed spending time with each and every member. She was a member of Stonegate Cumberland Presbyterian Church and adored her church family. Come-and- go visitation for Ella will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2019 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with the family to greet friends at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at the church (17101 N. Western Avenue) at 10:30 on January 8, 2020. Remembrances can be made to Stonegate Church, The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
